Last Shanghai Trip

The first weekend trip out of HH. The plan was to spend a few days in BJ – get some fresh air, shopping (of course!) to stock on food supply and baby stuff. Highlight of the weekend was Briana’s first swimming lesson. Later on that week we heard that our dear friend, Sharon, is back in Shanghai. Whoaaaa… yay! Diverted the plan to SH.
In short it was a great weekend in Shanghai. Got to see Sharon, had dinner in Paulaner – wow! what a great place! totally packed on a Friday night, will definitely coming back – and got through most of our shopping list too. It was quite a successful afternoon the day we found Mothercare. Baby stroller was the last one in their stock. Managed to grab a few more baby clothes, socks and feeding utensils while Michael was walking towards the cashier counter. That’s his way of saying “That’s it, we’ve cleaned up pretty much everything in the store. Time to go!” Well, mothers…..! Same everywhere I guess. I was just getting my little girl ready for the winter in HH. It would be pretty harsh. A couple of winter jackets, socks and seriously thick winter overall should do.
Back in the hotel. Bri just had her breakfast. She was too happy to be changed into her swimsuit. Everything was still sweet when we got to the pool. She watched everything curiously, still bouncing and all smiling. OKay, time to get wet, Tricket! As soon as her feet touched the water, she winced. “Oh no, me no like dis… Dis so kooollld” . Daddy was very patient with her though. He was surprisingly very gentle with Bri. I was readying myself in case daddy decided to dunk the baby into the water. I’m not sure what’s his teaching method exactly, but let’s just get ready for the worst. My dad’s technique was a bit rough, he simply threw me into the ocean. I think I had my mouth opened yelling for help but successfully filled my mouth and burn my nostrils with salt water before he finally scooped me back into his arms.
Bri wasn’t too comfortable in the water. Not this time, but hopefully she’ll get used to the idea that water is fun. Will need a little more encouragement at home during her bath, I think. I’ve read somewhere about a swim-a-song program started by a former breaststroke champion, teaching babies to swim at really early ages. The younger the better. I’ll find out about it.

Briana tambah cantik ya, rambut nya udah numbuh, rambutnya masih rancung kaya sally, gak apa2 nanti kl udah panjang juga gak rancung ya.

Komik yang kaya Bri in Red itu? Itu rambut ga panjang-panjang ya bu. Paling nggak udah ga rontok lagi kok….
De, dari 700 foto yang diambil slama dia berenang itu, smua posenya nangis… hahahah, ini udah dipilih2 yang paling manis mukanya.
Akhirnya artis kita muncul lagi. Sibuk amet ya…main film apa ci….info2 dong. pan kita juga mw nonton filmnya briana. briana…u look very bule…heee……..hee ini serius loh. salam kangen untuk artis kita ini.
Kak baru sekarang (yg foto di kolam renang itu) Briana keliatan orang bule Bule banget deh…….ada yg bangga tuh.
kakak gambar komik tokoh kartun briana, bri si bayi ajaib gituh misalnya, dengan kejadian2 hari2 kelakuan dia yg ada2 aja. anak bayi dengan pipi gembul dan rambut rancungnya. dari pada si dora.

hehehe. Coba ntar aku bikinin karikatur mukanya si Bri dulu yah… theme layoutnya udah kartun nih!
Hey, what a great site and the photos of Briana are soooooo good. You certainly are the consumate photographer. I am surprised Michael did not just ‘dunk’ Briana in the pool. She will soon get used to it and will then love it.

menurut discovery channel, anak bayi dibawah 12 tahun masih mempunyai refleks menahan nafas dan menelan air saat di dalam air, so the water won’t harm the baby, at least till they’re 12 months old. Once they turn into a year old toddler, the reflects will will be gone for good. Ini karena selama 9 bulan mereka tinggal diselimutkan air ketuban.. katanyaaa.. tapi aku nyesel waktu shaina dibawah 12 bulan gak sempet ‘nyemplungin’ dia di air. Best when theyre 3-4months, katanya lagi

@ Mommy Shaina: wah, thanks infonya yah. Beneran yah berarti bagus ngajarin Bri berenang sejak dini. Suamiku dah wanti-wanti spy jangan kaget pas dia ngajarin Bri berenang…. agak “sadis” katanya. Biasanya bayi2 di NZ dicemplungin gitu aja, dan betul karena masih ada refleks itu, mereka insting untuk nafas dalam air dan bergerak sendiri. Hebaattt…..!
